Elegy for the Silent Teacher (2026)

Solo Violin, written for Edinburgh Medical School 300

This piece was written in memoriam of the ‘silent teachers’, those who have graciously donated their bodies to the medical school after their passing, as part of the Scottish Symphony Orchestra’s Soundbox programme. This was composed with guidance from Jay Capperauld, whose advice was invaluable to this important project. The piece was performed in the University of Edinburgh’s anatomy lecture theatre by violinist Charlotte Perkins on 4 June 2026, alongside other pieces written by fellow students for this event.
